Work on the virtual ground of 2020 elections!

The Associated Press is hiring voter entry workers, all Pace students are welcomed to apply.

The Associated Press is looking for college students to assist with election night tabulation of the upcoming General Election.  It is a paid opportunity.  People will work remotely and need a Windows 10 or MAC computer.  Paid training will occur during the last weeks of October for the November 3 election.  If interested contact Beth Bay ( for details.

Time Commitment

Starting with the week of October 19 you will need to block out sufficient time, for which you will be paid, to:

  • Join an initial two-hour training session offered the week of October 19-24.
  • Join a follow-up two-hour training offered the October 26-30.
  • On Saturday, October 31, AP holds a national rehearsal from approximately 11 am to 5 pm.
  • On Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, the start time will vary (earliest in around 4 p.m. Eastern). 

After election day there are opportunities for work during normal business hours (9 am to 5 pm) as we verify the election results. The exact time frame for this is not yet known.


To participate you will need the following computer equipment:

  • A stable internet connection.
  • A laptop or desktop computer with Windows 10 or a Mac (Operating System version  10.8.1 or higher).  Chromebooks and iPads do not work.
  • A cell phone capable of downloading the FREE Microsoft Authenticator App. This will be necessary to interface with our Multifactor Authorization security process.
  • A headset with a microphone to receive incoming calls.  An operators or gaming headset with a microphone is ideal.  Earbuds with a microphone will also work. Phone calls will be received through your computer.


The rate of pay is $15 per hour. We will pay four hours to cover the time required to connect to the AP system and for independent learning using the training materials we send you.  Training will be paid based on hours worked.   Payment for other times will be based on hours worked.
