Coming Soon: 5 Thought Leaders Visiting Pace

Pace students will have the opportunity to hear from at least five unique voices before the end of the semester, including activists, authors, and a Hollywood actor. The distinguished guests will speak on a range of topics. Here’s a closer look at the upcoming events.

1. Thursday, April 11

Vox Creative Arts Presents: Ross Gay

Award-winning author Ross Gay has written three books of poetry: Against Which, Bringing the Shovel Down, and Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude. Gay will be reading from his latest work The Book of Delights, a collection of essays published earlier this year by Algonquin Books. His visit is a partnership between the Vox Creative Arts Series, the office of Multicultural Affairs and Diversity Programs, and the University Environmental Center, and will also include a Q&A and book signing.

2. Monday, April 15

Julia Weldon: On Being a Queer, Non-binary, Trans Identified Actor In the TV/Film Industry

A critically acclaimed singer, Weldon’s acting work includes a breakout role opposite Academy Award winners Meryl Streep and Liam Neeson (Before & After), and numerous other film and TV projects. This event is presented by Pace School of Performing Arts in conjunction with the Department of Film and Screen Studies and the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies.

David Gill, consul general of Germany will give a presentation titled “The Path to Freedom and Unity: The Fall of the Berlin Wall and Peaceful Revolution 30 Years On.”

4. Tuesday, April 23

The Stonewall Generation Meets Gen Z: Panel on LGBTQ+ Activism

Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, an event which galvanized the fight for LGBTQ+ rights, student activists will host a conversation with movement founders.

Distinguished Professor Lecture: Yahdon Israel

Presented by the Publishing Department, Editor-in-Chief of Brooklyn Magazine, Yahdon Israel ’13, is an essayist, social media maven, and style icon. Israel will be giving a presentation titled “Who We Do it For,” challenging students and publishing professionals to rethink their views of their audiences.
