The Psychology of Stress: Research and Application
One’s time in college can be full of many exciting challenges and opportunities; but it is also a time of stressors – deciding on a career path, further developing one’s identity, establishing social relationships, and engaging in academics, extracurriculars, and work. This can be taxing in any context; layer on a pandemic that has shifted how we learn, work, and live – and many are now confronting a chronically stressful context. How can we best respond to these challenges? Do the ways in which we react – emotionally, physically, and behaviorally – influence our well-being, health, and achievement? Are there ways that we can reduce our negative responses, leading to positive shifts in these outcomes? This Society of Fellows Weekend Seminar will grapple with these challenging and important questions, to better understand how we can survive and thrive in a stressful and ever-changing world.
