Dec 14, 2019: Confucius Institute Closed
New Global Asia Institute Launched
As of December 14, 2019, Pace University’s contract to host the Confucius Institute at Pace ended.
In the spring of 2020, we were pleased to have launched the new Global Asia Institute (GAI), housed within Dyson College of Arts and Sciences. The GAI will broaden and build upon our tradition of providing students, faculty, staff, and community with scholarly activities and enriching cultural events, and more, covering areas of interest from Western Asia to Central Asia, including China, India, Japan, Korea, Russia and Southeast Asia.
Under the leadership of GAI Director Joseph Lee, PhD, professor of History, the Institute is committed to promoting the study of Asia in a global context, drawing upon the multifaceted expertise of Dyson College faculty across a variety of disciplines. It will maintain an academic focus, both in developing a broader curriculum for the Global Asia Studies major, as well as supporting academic research and scholarly exchange across disciplines, institutions, and countries. The Institute will draw upon the many outstanding faculty within Dyson College and the University who have expertise in this vast region, encompassing expertise in Asian and World art, history, political science, economics, modern languages and culture, communications, philosophy and religious studies, and English.
Thank you for your support of this exciting new venture at Pace University. Please contact Joseph Lee at jlee@pace.edu for further information.
